Admissions at University of Virginia – School of Nursing

• Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) – Master’s Entry (Direct‑Entry MSN)
• Minimum cumulative undergraduate GPA: 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Competitive candidates often have 3.30 or higher, with A or A− grades in each prerequisite.
• Prerequisites (must be completed with B– or higher, and competitive candidates with A/A–):
• Human anatomy & physiology I (with lab, 4 credits)
• Human anatomy & physiology II (with lab, 4 credits)
• Microbiology (with or without lab)
• Lifespan development (conception to death)
• All within the last five years.
• Approximate number of applicants vs. cohort size: ~150 applications per year for a cohort of 45–50 students.
• GRE: Not required.
• Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) – BSN‑to‑DNP Pathway
• Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.0 (undergraduate and graduate study). For competitive applicants, BSN GPA of 3.25 or higher, plus active membership in a national nursing organization, clinical certification (or working toward it), leadership experience, and strong writing skills.
