Admissions

Admissions at Pima Community College

Competitive.

• Pima Community College has an open-admissions policy for college entry, meaning general admission to PCC is non‑competitive and typically accepts all applicants who meet basic eligibility. However, the Nursing (ADN) program is selective and competitive—students must meet specific prerequisites, complete an entrance exam, and are admitted based on a point system; there is no published overall acceptance rate for the nursing program.
• For admission to the ADN program, applicants must complete preparatory coursework with posted grades and assessment scores on Pima transcripts, including
• Human Anatomy & Physiology I (BIO 201IN) (or Human Anatomy, Physiology & Histology, BIO 201IH) and II (BIO 202IN);
• College-level math (MAT 142 or MAT 151);
• English Composition I (WRT 101).
• In addition, applicants must achieve 75% or higher on the HESI A2 assessment (covering Math, Reading, and Anatomy/Physiology) and complete the ACCUPLACER reading assessment.
• Admission is determined using a defined point system based on prerequisite GPA and NLN Nursing Entrance Exam (via Proctor360) scores.
• Applicants may take the NLN exam up to twice per year, and each result remains valid for one year.

Format

Schedule and format at Pima Community College

• Delivery formats for the Associate of Applied Science (ADN) nursing programs—including traditional ADN, ADN/BSN concurrent, and ADN–PN options—are offered in In Person, Online, and Hybrid modalities.
• The Practical Nurse (LPN) certificate program is offered In Person only.
• The Nursing Assistant Certificate (CNA) is delivered In Person only.
• For nursing core courses (e.g., ADN curriculum), the program is offered only on a full‑time basis at West Campus, and the Nursing Division develops student schedules—students are randomly assigned to day, evening, or weekend class times; individual schedule requests are not honored.
• Similarly, program-wide scheduling policy indicates that lecture, lab, and clinical schedules are established by the Nursing Program; students cannot make individual scheduling requests; and assignments depend on clinical site and instructor availability.
