Admissions at Hinds Community College

• No overall acceptance/admission rate (%) for the nursing programs is published on Hinds CC’s official site or related materials.
• For the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) – Traditional Option:
• Minimum prerequisite GPA: 2.5 or higher, calculated using the best grades from nursing program prerequisite and corequisite courses only. Other coursework is not included in this GPA calculation.
• ACT requirements:
• Composite score: at least 18 (if taken before October 1989, 15 required).
• Subscores: at least 18 in Math, Reading, and Science (or 15 if ACT was taken before October 1989); alternatively, a “C” or higher in College Algebra may satisfy the Math requirement.
• Prerequisite courses (must be completed with grade “C” or above by the admission deadline):
• BIO 2511/2513 (Anatomy & Physiology I Lecture & Lab)
• BIO 2521/2523 (Anatomy & Physiology II Lecture & Lab)
• SOC 2113 (Introduction to Sociology)
• Selection process details:
• Fall-entry: applications open January 1; all admissions criteria must be completed by May 20. Preference for applicants who file by March 20.
• Spring-entry: applications open July 1; criteria must be complete by November 15
